The NYSC Personal Community Development Project was carried out by Corper Francis O. Oguaju with state code no: KN/17B/2515. The project was carried out in Zara community, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State. The above corps member (Francis O. Oguaju) who provided dumpster and also
members of the community on waste management, trained youthful residents on how to manage the community development project and also embarked on a rally/walk to sensitize members of the community on waste management.









































Francis Oguaju is a graduate of Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, Anambra State, studied business administration & management. Hails from Ubulu Village, in Eziowelle Community in Idemilli North LGA of Anambra State. He served in Babayaro Memorial International School Mariri, Kumbotso LGA, Kano State.
who found the problem of poor sanitation, bad waste management culture & practices and absent of waste disposal facility in Zara (my host community). So he decided to embark on waste management as his NYSC personal community development project.
The project comprises of 3 phases; (1) Sensitization exercise of students and residents on waste management. (2) Provision of dumpster to enable the people dispose their waste. (3) Embark on a rally/walk to further sensitize members of the community on waste management by distributing flyers and books on environment.
According to Mr. Francis O. Ogujau, the project was sponsored by AFRICAN CENTRE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION (ACEP), they were the sole sponsor of the project and they also supported the project with T-shirts, flyers, banners, and environmental books etc.
The project was commissioned by Alh. Landan Baba, State Coordinator, National youth Service Corps, Kano State. Other attendees include; Ass. Director skill acquisition and entrepreneurship (SAED), local Government Inspector, Civil Defense, Nigerian Police Force, Community leader, Fire Service, NGGA Kano, Ministry of Health, KEDCO, Youth Corps Members, Boys Brigade, Girls Guide, Students and Community members.
When asked why he chose to carry out the community development project; ‘I have strong passion for the environment’ he answered!
